Why can I hear myself through my friends mic?
Go the the “Listen” tab, then check if “Listen to this device” is ticked. Click Recording, then choose your mic > Click Properties. Go to Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage audio devices. Play some music, you will see that now the sound goes to the microphone but you will not hear anything. Choose “CABLE Output (VB- Audio Virtual Cable)” as Input. Choose “CABLE Input (VB- Audio Virtual Cable)” as Output. Right-click on your audio icon in the task bar and choose “Open Sound settings “. This can cause a problem where the in- game audio is heard from the mic. 
Sound Settings: If in the sound settings the input device or the output device is selected as “stereo mix” it prompts the output (your speakers) and the input (your microphone ) sounds to mix.
